Oh, for an edit function. Please ignore the stray info above my thanks for Mr. Nolan. Cut and paste has its own dangers so it seems. IP: Logged |

Yep, that's everything. As someone who lobbied for this, needless to say, I'm thrilled. IP: Logged |

A few months ago, there was a thread that I think is gone now which asked "Does DC care what you think?" This announcement answers that question. IP: Logged |

Wonderful news, indeed. I have all of these stories already, but wll certainly buy this one for my bookshelf. Now, if they could only give us those wonderful PROSE stories Moore wrote for the U.K. VERSIONs of those Superman Annuals and Batman Annual (It's the only place they show up and are EXTREMELY hard to find) my Moore collection will be complete IP: Logged |

This is good news. Moore is popular enough that these are probably difficult to find as back issues. The first time around, the Vigilante two-parter and the GA/BC story really fell flat for me. No wonderful Moorian twists or twistedness. It will be interesting to see whether they read better this time. The GL stories, the Batman story, and the Superman stories are excellent. Never read the Omega Men stories. Looking forward to them. Remember the PS primarily as part of the overall issue of Secret Origins it appeared in. The entire issue was good, and I can't remember which quarter of it was Moore's. That should also make for some fun reading. IP: Logged |

But they've still left out my favourite. "Protected Species" from the 1984 Superheroes Annual published here in the UK. It's a two page prose story by Alan about an alien big game hunter who comes to earth to capture a Kryptonian for the Interstellar League of Gentlefolk Concerned About Endangered Wild-Life. He decides to go after Superman rather than Supergirl because the female of the species is usually more dangerous... It's only two pages, guys. Squeeze it in. IP: Logged |

There were, IIRC, a couple more text stories, two pages apiece by Moore in the British Annuals - one called "The Gun" in a Batman Annual [1983?] and maybe another. They could go in too. IP: Logged |

According to a poster (named stroh) at the Pulse, there were three in all: One was "I was Superman's Double", another "Protected Species" and the great Batman text story, "The Gun" which traces the path of the gun used to kill Batman's parents. Rob IP: Logged |

It's a bit more complex that typesetting. There were spot illustrations in the text stories as well - in the case of Protected Species, the art was by Bryan Talbot; worth including I'd say. IP: Logged |

Certainly would be! Makes me want to see them even more! Rob IP: Logged |

Except, and I may be wrong on this, but DC probably don't own the rights to those stories. They were written by Moore in the UK, for a UK company-there were similar problems with Moore's Captain Britain stories when Marvel first wanted to reprint them IIRC. Considering Moores allergy to working with DC proper, it might not be so simple as just reprinting. The other works, of course, were done for DC under work-for-hire, and so DC can reprint them without problem. But if I'm wrong on this, someone can correct me. IP: Logged |

Where's "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow"? I don't see it listed. I believe the tpb is out of print, which would make it perfect for inclusion. I read it once years ago and it was great. If it ain't here, it ain't complete. IP: Logged |

quote: The new Previews is now online: APR03 0427 SUPERMAN WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE MAN OF TOMORROW (STAR13842) $6.95 = $ I'm happy DC didn't waste so much space re-reprinting this easily-availble tale. I'd be happier if the Superman story which is in the Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told collection was also replaced with other stuff, but at least that one doesn't have an active STAR order code... - Bill IP: Logged |

Thanks, Bill. I still would rather have it all in one book but at least I can get the 'Tomorrow' story as a companion. IP: Logged |
